Welcome to our new podcast, edJEWcation, where a Hassidic Rabbi, his devout daughter and their less than devout friend (but he’s trying really hard, he swears) explore aspects of Jewish culture and religion.
The players in our drama are, Rabbi Abba Pearlmutter, ChayaLeah Sufrin (who you may know from her world renowned other podcast, Ask A Jew), and relapsed Jew, Jay Covitz.
On each show, we’ll kibbitz, kvell, or kvetch (probably all three) about two topics: one about Jewish culture or tradition and on the other we’ll discuss a parsha from the Torah, aka the first five books of the Old Testament, aka the five books of Moses, aka the Tanach (see, why you need this podcast?)
On the inaugural episode of edJEWcation, aside from meeting the three mensches and describing why the heck we’re doing this, the Rabbi will explain the difference and importance of the myriad different Jewish texts and, as is only appropriate on the first episode, about Creation (of the universe, not the podcast).
Sit back, grab a nosh, and enjoy edJewcation!
