Can’t lie though; a little disappointed you avoided the much closer-to-home topic of messianic fervor within a portion of the global chabad community who believe the Rebbe was the Messiah and will return one day (including the 770 tunnel builders from late last year I believe). Would have been an interesting real-time example close to your hearts. Particularly since the Rebbe never encouraged nor discouraged such thinking during his life (maybe I’m wrong about that aspect which is why it would have been a fascinating topic to cover). Anyway, really enjoyed this one.
I’m so glad you brought this up! I asked my Dad about discussing it beforehand and he said that we should do an entire episode of modern day messianism in the Chabad movement. I was surprised he was willing to do a whole episode on it but stay tuned!
I just want to say how much I love you guys - really great podcast. I’ve been going through a pretty rough time lately and so I haven’t been up to listening to my usual podcasts (comedy, politics, etc). But with this one, it’s wholesome and it’s funny and I learn things. It’s like my therapy. I’m not Jewish but let’s just say I’m Jewish adjacent in many ways (Jewish grandfather, Jewish half brother, another brother married into a Jewish family, and I do feel connected, especially after October 7th). Anyway, thank you for being a bright spot in my week, it means a lot!
